This week we held one of our special 3 hour sessions which are ideal for out of town students and anyone who cannot attend the weekly classes. These sessions are oriented around a specific set of principles from the art so we can explore them in more depth.
Our man in Hamilton, Shizi John Trumbell, wrote a nice synopsis of the session based on feedback he received from his students at the session. I am posting it here because it highlights something about the Nine Dragon system that makes it special. Namely that while everyone learns the same material, the way they ultimately express it is unique to each person.
Shizi Trumbell: This weekend there was a special 3 hour class in Toronto on applying the Dragon Rolling the Pearl. This was a very informative class.
Starting with a focus on structure and the importance of the principles and moving through to applications While still maintaining structure and the principles. All of the people that came with me really enjoyed themselves and found it to be inspiring.
One of the comments that one of my students made that I personally really liked was that he had noticed how differently Shizi Reynolds, Shizi Carstoniu, and I express the art and yet maintain the principles and this really inspired him. I liked this because it shows the freedom that we have in this art in comparison to others arts where everyone has to move the same. All we need to do it follow the principles. Great job! Shizi Reynolds and Shizi Carstoniu.
