Shigong John Painter just completed a very special weekend visit to Toronto, the first in over two years.
On Friday night our school was filled close to capacity, not only by Jiulong students but also by more than a handful of chronic pain patients. The 9 Healing Circles, a Jiulong health practice, was the topic, and Shigong Painter’s lesson drew from anthropology, neurology and traditional Chinese medicine to show us how anyone can use this practice to promote health and well-being.
Saturday and Sunday’s workshop dove deeply into one of the fundamental practices of Jiulong, the 5 Circles. Our Baguazhang students benefited from learning directly from the source, as Shigong Painter led them through the history, mechanics, solo exercises and partner exercises all related to the 5 Circles.
After filling everyone’s head to the point of bursting with valuable information, he let us know that there was even more to this topic and gave us the tools to expand our understanding.
Thank you very much to all who participated for your enthusiasm and support. And a very large thank you to Shigong Painter his generosity and effort. We hope for a return next year.
